マイクロヘリにPSoC搭載

最近、日本でもマイクロヘリと呼ばれる超小型の電動ヘリが盛り上がりつつあるようですが、また1つ面白そうな新製品が発売になるようです。これだけでも結構興味深いのですが、ヘリの制御にPSoCが、ワイヤレス通信部分にWirelessUSB™用のチップが採用されているとのことです。

Its coaxial, counter-rotating rotor blades make hovering easy, even for first-time pilots. And it’s interference free, five-channel E-flite transmitter with built-in Spektrum 2.4-GHz technology offers a glitch-free user experience. Two Cypress PSoC devices perform critical function in the Blade CX2. The PSoC devices control two axes of gyro stabilization and two motors. In addition, they provide the protocol management for the Cypress WirelessUSB™ LP radios-on-a-chip that deliver flawless radio signals for the helicopters.

ちょうど、doggieさんのブログで知った新しい評価キットがそろそろ到着する時期ということもあり、いろいろと妄想が膨らみます。BluetoothやZigBeeだと、汎用性はあるものの、接続が不安定になって切れてしまった後の再接続までの時間など、用途によっては使いにくい部分が多い気がしています。WirelessUSB™のチップを使って独自にそのあたりを制御すれば、目的に応じたちょうどいい感じのワイヤレス通信が実現できるのでは…なんて思っているのですが、果たしてそんな都合良くいくのでしょうか？

2月に入ったら、この辺りの実験を集中的にやってみようと思います。
